The Meaning Behind Dreams

What is The Meaning Behind Dreams?

Many people ask, "what is the meaning behind dreams?" for many different reasons. Do you want to know the meaning behind dreams because you have the same dream every night? Is it because you've had a nightmare? Or, do you wish to know the meaning behind dreams because you had a dream that was so vivid it seemed real? Some people experience a dream, which was so profound and vivid, they believe that their must be a meaning behind dreams because their mind is trying to tell them something!

Since written history began we know that everyone from the wealthy to the poor and kings to paupers have all wanted to know the meaning behind dreams. Ancient shamans, priests and holy men were consulted for their knowledge and ability to interpret the meaning behind dreams.

In these modern times it is still believed that finding the meaning behind dreams can help us in our everyday lives.

Knowledge of the meaning behind dreams can give you some great understanding of how you are thinking and feeling about things in your life. If you have goals that you have been striving to achieve understanding the meaning behind dreams can help you to ascertain how your feelings and thoughts are directing your actions in connection to your goals.

Are you aware of how little information you can store consciously at any one time? You can only hold up to seven bits of information in the conscious mind at one time. Your subconscious mind, however, can hold millions of bits of information every second! This information is then stored for processing at a time when there is no interference from the conscious mind. When you dream the subconscious accesses much of this information and begins to process it which it then incorporates in the meaning behind dreams.

We also have problems and questions that run in our heads all day. This internal stimulus also gets processed in dreams and many times the subconscious mind will find a solution to a problem or answer to a question after it has processed the data - just like a computer! It gives you the answers in the meaning behind dreams you have.

When the subconscious mind gives you an answer to a question, solution to a problem or new insights the meaning behind dreams is not understood because the subconscious presents the information symbolically. By learning to read the symbolism of dreams you can learn the meaning behind dreams.

As an example of symbolism and the meaning behind dreams think of an elephant. What comes to mind? - Elephant's never forget? Perhaps you dream of an elephant charging your work place, scattering papers everywhere while it charges a particular co-worker. This could be a forceful remainder not to forget an important piece of work you need from that particular co-worker. Or, perhaps that co-worker has vital information that could help you solve a problem. The meaning behind dreams such as this would be clearer once you understand the symbolism of the subconscious mind.

You can easily find the meaning behind dreams with the proper tools and books like the meaning behind dreams, but there is also another way. There is a phenomenon known as lucid dreaming. A lucid dream is a dream which you control. You literally wake-up in the dream and are able to do whatever you want. You can get the meaning behind dreams by visiting Sigmund Freud and having him analyse the meaning behind dreams or even ask the characters in your dreams what they are trying to tell you. It is also possible to become one of your dream characters to get a better understanding of their place in the dream and fully understand the meaning behind dreams that they are trying to convey.

Using a dream guide will help you learn the meaning behind dreams and so will lucid dreaming. However, lucid dreaming will also let you experience your fantasies. Which one is best for you to learn the meaning behind dreams I will let you decide.
